The variety in the chemical composition of the fluid intercepted by the valves often requires the use of specific lubricant solutions, which can reduce the valves pair manoeuvres, promoting the effect of "sealing" just as in lubricated plug valves, all while preserving the indirect functionality of the sealing elements.
