The most common mechanical element, the rolling bearing, is responsible for the transmission of the load and of movement within any mechanical system, simple or complex. The rolling elements and raceways must be separated effectively and the lubricant plays a key role in ensuring a continuous "floating" of the surfaces under any condition. The variety in working conditions and design led Macon Research to develop targeted solution lubricants for all operating conditions.

High speed: machine tool spindle bearings

Dynamically light lubricants, with a high coefficient viscosity/temperature: lubricant film of fixed sizes that reduce the peak power at high speeds. The bearings operating in machine tool spindles represent a major challenge also in terms of lubrication and, even when operating at high speed, they must not produce any heat build-up that can lead to undesirable dimensional variations in metals and to imprecise work! The Maconhyspeed series, in the V and HUV versions, was established with the aim of ensuring a strong lubricant film along with the possibility of working at high rotational speeds.

High loads

When the rotational speed is reduced to a minimum and the bearing loads are heavy, the choice in additive and thickener are essential. A further contribution is provided by the use of solid lubricants: Macon Research enriches basic formulations with solid lubricants, which are obtained through modern techniques originating in nanotechnology: PTFE, MoS2, Graphite, Ceramic, synthetic polymers with a low coefficient of friction, and high absorbency gelling agents.

Increased operating temperature range from -90°C to 300°C

Temperature produces a reversible and instantaneous change in the lubricant film: within the lubrication range provided by the formulation, the transfer of heat produced during operation and present in the lubrication chamber causes a thinning of the meatus of lubrication, while the risk of rupture in the lubricant film is accentuated by the evaporation loss of the base oil or by the formation of carbonaceous residues, which could jeopardize the smooth operation of the bearing.

The Maconsynth series is available to designers: fully synthetic lubricants specifically designed for rolling bearings, and very effective at high and low temperatures. The Maconsynth series is available in solutions for a temperature ranging between -90 + 300°C, ensuring a hydrodynamic (not dry) film in the meatus of lubrication.

Quiet Functioning

The inhibition of noise occurrence is a fundamental aspect, especially in bearings operating at high rotational speed; the use of lubricants characterized by a "controlled" particle size allows for a decrease in distorting frequencies generated during rotation, to which the human ear is particularly sensitive (1 kHz).

The production system of Macon Research entails specific processing phases for the reduction and control of the granulometry of lubricating greases, whose effect on noise level can determine efficiencies up to 20%.
